I completed my graduation degree in India. My degree was in IT with a focus on learning web technologies. This, combined with my other interests, led to my current role. When I moved to the UK, I applied for a few jobs and I was delighted to be offered a job at WEG quite quickly. Coming from abroad, I was really nervous about being able to find a role that matched my interests. I work as a Junior Web Developer which involves maintaining the jobs.ac.uk website and developing any new features which are requested. Can you tell me about the development opportunities you have had?
When I first started working here, I was employed as a Trainee Web Developer on a Unitemps contract. I was then able to apply for a permanent Junior Web Developer role after a year and a half of working here. I work in a very nice team which actively encourages learning new skills and developing. As a trainee, I learned a lot from my colleagues and was keen to improve my skills. My team helped me to grow professionally by giving me the right kind of support. What do you enjoy most about working here?
The people have all been really friendly and supportive, and I greatly enjoy having the opportunity to learn new things every day! This is my first job in the UK and I feel that WEG has a great working environment. I enjoy being part of the University of Warwick, as it also gives me the opportunity to use a range of facilities like the Sports Centre and the Warwick Arts Centre. What would you say to others thinking about working at WEG?
I would say – please do! The people are great and working here has provided me with the fantastic opportunity to develop my skills and career.
